Perception of Biology Students on the Efficacy of Field Trip Method of Teaching in Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto – Nigeria

ABSTRACTThe study investigates on the perception of Biology students on the efficacy of field trip method of teaching in UsmanuDanfodiyo University, Sokoto. To carry out the study effectively, three research questions were posed. They are: what is the opinion of Biology students about field trip method of teaching in UsmanuDanfodiyo University, what is the attitude of Biology students towards field trip method of teaching in UsmanuDanfodiyo University, Sokoto, what is the difference between male and female Biology students’ opinion about field trip method of teaching at UsmanuDanfodiyo University, Sokoto. Also, one hypothesis was posed: There is no significant difference between male and female Biology students’ opinion and field trip method of teaching in UsmanuDanfodiyo University, Sokoto. The population comprised two hundred and thirteen (213) students. Survey research was adopted which contains questionnaire with 30 items and a total of 130 respondents were selected using a Sample Random Sampling Technique and an opportunistic sampling method was used in its administration. Also, related literatures were reviewed from textbooks, journals and past researches. The results of the study showed a diverse response on the perception of Biology students on the efficacy of field trip method of teaching in UsmanuDanfodiyo University, Sokoto. Finally, the findings shows that the research was equally treated were proffered and suggestions for further research were made.
