Abstract
AbstractThestudy was to examine the effect of different temperature regime on seed germination of Vigna radiata (Mung beans). The sample where subjected to three different temperature VIZ: Chilling (5oC), High (45oC) and Normal room temperature (30oC). Each of the set was triplicated. The mung beans were placed in a petri-dishes containing moist filter paper under different temperature for the period of 14days. The percentage germination was observed. The results showed that sample incubated under 30oC, germinated faster with percentage germination of 86.67% than all the two treatments, then followed by that of 45oC. The seeds of Vigna radiata showed different range for optimum germination at room temperature. This indicates that normal room temperature has significant effect on percentage of germination because optimum germination response was expressed by Vigna radiata at 30oC by 86.67% under normal growing condition.
