The Use of English Language in Nigeria Novel a Case Study Achebe’s Anthill of the Savannah Nwankwo’s Danda Aro Wiwa’s Sozaboy

Abstract
The aim of this long essay is to examine the language problem which confronts the Nigerian novelists in the course of their writing in English. Nigerian novelists write in English which is their second language. The question that must appear to one’s mind is how can Nigerian novelists write in English which is foreign language conveniently reflect the socio-cultural background of Nigeria audience bearing in mind that language is a reflection of cultural values of a particular geographical entity? This language quicksand which Nigerian Novelists are dug in and the attempt made by some writers to solve the language limitation are what we will venture to examine in the essay.To write on this topic effectively, we will look into what have been written about this language problem. Achebe’s Anthills of the Savannah, Nwankwo’s Danda and Saro-Wiwa’s Sozaboy will be looked into on the basis of how the English Language has been used in them.
