Event Centre, Their Location, and Level of Patronage in Ado-Ekiti

This study investigates the role of event centres in urban development, focusing on their location, level of patronage, and associated socio-economic impacts in Ado Ekiti, Nigeria. It examines how event centres contribute to the local economy, urban infrastructure, and social vibrancy while identifying challenges and opportunities within the sector. The research utilized primary data collected through a structured questionnaire distributed among event centre owners, managers, clients, and community members. The data were analyzed to understand the patterns of event centre distribution, factors influencing their patronage, and their broader implicationsfor urban growth and development. Findings from the study reveal that event centres in Ado Ekiti significantly impact local economic activities, particularly in hospitality, retail, and transportation sectors. Strategiclocation, accessibility, and affordability emerged as critical determinants of patronage levels.However, the study also identified challenges such as poor infrastructure, inconsistent electricitysupply, and inadequate urban planning, which hinder the full potential of event centres. Notably, rural event centres experience lower patronage compared to their urban counterparts due to accessibility issues and limited services. The study concludes by recommending improved urban planning, infrastructural development,and the adoption of innovative marketing strategies to enhance the role of event centres in fostering socio-economic growth.
