A Contrastive Study on the Semantic Features Between Warri-Sapele and Benin Pidgin

Abstract
ABSTRACTÂ This Project is entitled "A Contrastive study on the Semantic Features of Sapele-Warri and Benin Pidgin". This work aims at investigating the relationship between the semantic features present in Warri-Sapele and Bini Pidgin. This study discusses the evolution of both Pidgins and their differences. Chapter one presents a background to this study by giving a general overview of the languages under study. It also discusses the purpose, aim and objectives of the study. Chapter two is the literature review and it discusses contributions of other scholars concerning Language Contact, evolution of Nigerian Pidgin, Lexifier of Bini Pidgin and lexifier of Warri-Sapele Pidgin. Chapter three discusses the methodology adopted in the course of carrying out this research, which is the qualitative method of research. Chapter Four focuses ..on the analysis of data collected. This study finds out that Bini Pidgin is different from Warri-Sapele Pidgin in the sense that Warri -Sapele Pidgin is highly inflected with indigenous languages than Bini Pidgin. Chapter five concludes as well as points out some findings. This research can be used as a source of information or reference material for subsequent studies in Warri-Sapele Pidgin and Bini Pidgin.
