Abstract
In today’s digital era, safeguarding sensitive information has become a pressing concern as cyber threats grow increasingly sophisticated. This research investigates the effectiveness of encryption techniques such as symmetric, asymmetric, homomorphic, and hashing functions in improving data security. Through surveys and interviews with cyber security professionals, IT experts, and academics, the study examines the strengths, limitations, and practical applications of these methods in domains like IoT, cloud computing, and mobile devices. Challenges such as key management complexities and computational overhead were also identified. The findings indicate that symmetric and asymmetric encryption techniques strike the best balance between security and performance. Participants foresee future advancements in encryption through hybrid methods, quantum-resistant algorithms, and AI-driven integration. The study recommends incorporating multi-factor authentication, advanced threat detection, automated key management, and regular security audits alongside encryption to strengthen data protection. This research underscores the need for continuous innovation in encryption technologies to address ever-evolving cyber security risks.
