School Resources Management and Teaching Effectiveness of Economics Teachers in Secondary School in Calabar Metropolis of Cross River State, Nigeria

Abstract
The study examined the influence of school resources management and teaching effectiveness of Economics teachers in secondary schools in Calabar Metropolis of Cross River State, Nigeria. To realize the study objectives, four specific purposes were raised, four research questions were asked and four hypotheses were tested. Literature was reviewed based on the variables of the study. A survey descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study consisted of 1462 teachers in public secondary schools in the Calabar Metropolis area. The study adopted the hat-and-draw method of a simple random sampling technique. The sample was 146 teachers representing ten percent of the total population. The instrument used for data collection was a researcher-made questionnaire titled “School Resource Management and Teaching of Business Studies Questionnaire (SRMTBSQ)”. The instrument was validated by three experts one in educational research and evaluation and two from the Department of, who vetted the items developed. The simple linear regression statistical technique was employed to test the hypotheses under study. Each hypothesis was tested at .05 levels of significance. Findings are that library resources, audiovisual, computer-assisted aid and time management have a significant influence on teaching resources management on Economics subject teachers’ effectiveness in secondary schools in Calabar Metropolis of Cross River State, Nigeria. Based on the conclusion drawn, it is recommended among others that the government should ensure that every secondary school have a library will current textbooks and an automated library to meet global technological competitiveness.
