Abstract
ABSTRACTThe study examined the effectiveness of the initiated measures by university management towards the eradication of cultism in Ogun state Universities. It examined the implication of cultism in Nigeria tertiary institution; identified the current measures and polices implemented by universities toward curbing cultism in the university and Nigeria and assess the effectiveness of the measures and polices in initiated by the university management the reduction of cultism in tertiary institution. The research got its secondary data from textbooks, journal, newspapers and magazines. Also, the research adopted a descriptive study, which involved the usage of quantitative tool – questionnaire – for data collection. The findings revealed that, there is significant relationship impact of initiated measures by university management on the reduction of cultism in universities. The findings also revealed that there is significant effect of the policies initiated by the university management the reduction of cultism in tertiary institution. The research recommended among others that, the government should introduce capital punishment to those caught involved in cult activities to serve as deterrent to others. Also, government should move beyond promising and or enacting good policies by putting in place a well-structured institution that would enforce the breach of the law as most wealthy and influential persons in the society are one time cult members or are even members Government and administrations should ensure that youth centres are built at least in every local government in Nigeria; this is necessary in order for young people to be engaged in creative works and development through these centres.Keywords: Cultism, Government, Management, Institution, University,
