Assessing the Quality Assurance Practices in Osun State Colleges of Education

The study assessed the Quality Assurance Practices in Colleges of Education in Osun State. Four research questions were used with four null hypotheses formulated in line with the objective of the study. The descriptive survey design was used using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique, a sample size of 100 respondents was selected among the College Management, Quality Assurance Officers, Staffs and Students in Osun State College of Education Ila Orangun, Osun State. A self-made Questionnaire titled “Quality Assurance Practices Questionnaire (QAPQ) was validated and used for the study. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while the One- way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was employed to test the null hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The major findings of the study included that: there is no significant difference between the mean score of College Management, Quality Assurance Officers, Staffs and Students on monitoring, evaluation and supervision as quality assurance mechanisms for improved educational standards. The study concluded that the management of monitoring, evaluation and supervision in the assessment of students’ progress should ensure the availability of necessary facilities required for effective instruction, delivery and ultimately improve the educational standard. Consequently, the study recommends that Educational institutions should encourage cross-functional collaboration between different departments and stakeholders involved in these processes of pursuing quality.
