Assessment of the Impact of Technology on the Hospitality Industry in Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria

Abstract
The study was to examine the impact of technology on the hospitality industry in Ekitistate, Nigeria. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. Data was collectedthrough the aid of a questionnaire. The questionnaire was structured according to the researchquestions and distributed to sample population of 165 respondents. Analysis was done bymeans of frequency count, simple percentage, mean and standard deviation.The findings of the study revealed that that the adoption of technology has greatlyinfluenced customer behaviour and preferences in the hospitality industry, thereby enhancingcustomer engagement and interaction and creating access to personalized services in thehospitality industry. The integration of technology has greatly enhanced operational efficiencyof hospitality businesses by reducing operational costs, enhancing accuracy of businessoperations, increased customer satisfaction, improved speed of service delivery and improvedstaff productivity. Advancements in technology has impacted greatly the quality of customerexperiences in the hospitality industry by improving the convenience of accessing hospitalityservices, higher satisfaction levels, improved quality of customer service, more personalizedexperiences and has made services more reliable and consistent. It was however recommendedthat government should invest in robust and reliable ICT infrastructure to support theintegration of advanced technologies in the hospitality sector. This includes ensuring widespread access to high-speed internet, particularly in rural and remote areas, to bridge thedigital divide; and that to fully leverage technology, it is essential to equip the workforce withthe necessary skills and knowledge. The government and industry stakeholders shouldcollaborate to develop and implement comprehensive training programs focused on digitalliteracy and advanced technology use in the hospitality industry
