Abstract
This study examines the factors responsible for the spread of kidnapping and its impact on national development in Southern Kaduna. Using a qualitative exploratory case study approach and a sample of 200 respondents, findings show that unemployment, poor security systems, erosion of societal values, leadership failure, and the desire for quick wealth are major drivers. The act of kidnapping has severely affected the economy, social stability, and security in Kaduna State. The study recommends improved employment opportunities, strengthened security systems, stricter punishment for offenders, and empowerment programs for youths to reduce the menace.
