Abstract
Poverty remains a significant socio-economic challenge in Nigeria, necessitating governmentinterventions such as the N-Power programme to address unemployment and financialhardship. This study examines the effect of N-Power programmes, specifically N-Agro andN-Teach, on poverty alleviation in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. Theresearch assesses the extent to which these empowerment initiatives contribute to reducingpoverty through job creation, skill development, and income enhancement. A survey researchdesign was adopted, and data were collected from beneficiaries using structuredquestionnaires. The findings reveal that while N-Agro and N-Teach have positively impactedpoverty alleviation by improving beneficiaries’ financial stability and employability, challenges such as funding constraints and lack of sustainability hinder their long-termeffectiveness. The study concludes that for these programmes to have a lasting impact, thereis a need for improved funding, monitoring, and continuity strategies. It is recommended thatthe government enhance policy implementation, ensure timely stipends, and expand the scopeof the N-Power programme to reach more beneficiaries
