Abstract
This study investigates the antifungal activities of Mitracarpus villosus, focusing on its efficacy as a natural remedy for fungal infections prevalent in Kogi State. Mitracarpus villosus, a medicinal plant with documented traditional use, is examined for its potential to inhibit fungal growth. Employing various laboratory techniques, including phytochemical analysis, the study reveals the presence of tannins and flavonoid... Antifungal assays against Candida, A... and T.... A... flav... with the extract exhibiting comparable effectiveness to the positive control.... Specifically, the extract demonstrates inhibition diameters ranging from 6 \text{mm} to 22 \text{mm} at different concentrations, showcasing its potency against various fungal strains. These results underscore the significant antifungal properties of Mitracarpus villosus, suggesting its promising role in combating fungal infections. The findings contribute to the growing body of knowledge on natural anti-fungal agents and offering sights into the potential therapeutic applications of Mitracarpus villosus in traditional medicine. Further research is recommended to elucidate the mechanisms underlying its anti-fungal activity and optimize it utilization for medical purposes.
