Abstract
Abstract. This study investigates the low enrollment and turnout of Muslim girls in conventional Western schools in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The research employed both primary and Secondary data collected within the study area. A comparison of the collected data with official statistics from the local government revealed significant trends and correlations. The finding identified several factors contributing to the low enrollment of Muslim girl-child in formal education. These include parental ignorance, economic constraints, and socio cultural beliefs that devalue Western education for girls. Many parents perceive women's roles as being confined to domestic responsibilities, believing that formal education diminishes a woman's productivity as a housewife. There is also a fear that exposure to Western education may lead to excessive westernization or compromise traditional family values. The study discovered many Islamic teachings that highlight the urgent need for targeted intervention to promote the significance of girl-child education and address the misconceptions that hinder the education of a girl child among Muslim families in Sanga Local Government Area.
