Perceived Difficult Biological Concepts Among Senior Secondary School Students in Sokoto State, Nigeria.

Abstract
ABSTRACTThis study investigated the perceived difficult biological concepts among senior secondaryschool students in Sokoto North, Sokoto State, Nigeria. The study was guided by five (5) research questions. The study employed a quantitative approach, using a structured questionnaire as the instrument for data collection. A total population of 508 studentsparticipated in the study, comprising the senior secondary students from both public andprivate schools. The findings revealed that genetics, evolution, and nutrient cycle are themost difficult biological concepts perceived by the students. The study also identified poorteaching methods, lack of learning materials, and inadequate practical sessions as majorfactors contributing to the difficult biological concepts. Furthermore, it showed thedifferences in perceived difficulties between female and male students in both public andprivate schools. Based on the findings, the study recommend that teachers should employeffective teaching methods, provide adequate learning materials and Improve the teachingand learning of biological concepts
