Abstract
This study examined the influence of foreign films on teenagers (a study of select secondary school students in Ado L.G Area). Th e theoretical framework guiding this research is based on the Social Learning Theory. Data for the study were collected through the distribution of questionnaires to a sample of secondary school students. A survey research design was used, and data were analyzed using frequency tables/percentages and mean. The population of the study consisted of 400 students, and the sample sizewas determined using the Taro Yamane formula, resulting in a sample of 200 students. The findings of the study indicate that teenagers are significantly exposed to and influenced by foreign films, they gave much hours to foreign films than academics and this as results in exhibiting different attitude and behavior which also affect their cultural values. Based on these findings, the study recommends that while selecting films to watch especially those produced in Hollywood, students should be discerning enough to choose one that teaches good morals, films that center on the importance of one losing one’s virginity or robbing a bank is highly detrimental to the mores and general lifestyle of students, therefore every student should avoid such films. The school authority should invite/provide guidance counselors to visit their schools periodically to address the students and to encourage students to adopt more positive behavioral patterns.
