Abstract
Corruption remains one of the major challenges undermining Nigeria’s development. This study examines the role of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in combating corruption between 2019 and 2023. It assesses the Commission’s operations, achievements, and challenges. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and document analysis. Findings reveal that while the EFCC has recorded successes in investigations and recoveries, issues such as political interference, inadequate funding, and slow judicial processes hinder its full effectiveness. The study concludes that the EFCC can achieve greater impact with institutional independence, adequate resources, and stronger legal backing.
