Abstract
Natural products have been and have remained the cornerstone of healthcare. This work was undertaken to investigate the antibacterial activity of ethanolic seed extracts of wonderful kola on pathogenic strains of S. aureus. Clinical isolates of pathogenic Staphylococcus aureus was obtained from the culture collection unit of the laboratory of Department of Microbiology, Federal polytechnic nasarawa. Nasarawa state Nigeria. Wonderful kola seed were obtained from the market of Nasarawa metropolis, Nasarawa Nigeria. The seed were washed with distilled water, dried and grinded into powder using a blender. The Microdilution method was employed to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and minimum bacteriocidal concentration of the plant extract that gave the best antimicrobial activity using 96 well microtitre plates was carried out.
