Abstract
Abstract The Study aims to examine the impact of farmers/herdsmen clashes on the development of IdoOsi Local Government Area in Ekiti State from 1996-2022. The findings of the study show that the ongoing conflicts between farmers and herders have had a significant negative effect on the economic, social, and political development of the area. The clashes have resulted in the destruction of farmlands, disruption of economic activities, and loss of lives and properties.Furthermore, the conflicts have created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity, hindering investment and development in the community. The study suggests that urgent measures need to be taken to address this issue and promote peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.Possible solutions include establishing conflict resolution mechanism and promoting dialogue and understanding between the two groups. This study sheds more light on the detrimental impact of Famers/Herdsmen Clashes on the Development of Ido/Osi Local Government Area and highlights the need for swift action to mitigate its effects.
