Abstract
This study was conducted to assess the effect of organic substance on germination and early growth of Adansonia digitata (L) specie seedlings at the nursery site. To determine the germination rate and early growth parameters that is seedlings height, collar diameter, number of leaves and leaflet area index. The seeds were soaked in to hot water for 12 hours. Ninety (90) polythene pots of 25x10cm dimensions were filled with mixture media of organic substance (River sand, cow dung and saw dust) as TR1, TR2 and TR3 as control. The river sand was mixed with 2:1 ration of organic substance from TR1 and TR2. Thirty (30) polythene pots of 25x10cm dimensions were arrange in three replication from each treatment. CRD were used throughout the experiment. Of which the finding indicates that TR1, TR2 and TR3 is highly significance different of (P> 0.05). Leaflet area and collar diameter is highly significant of (P> 0.05) from the finding the study suggest that use of different the study organic media helped so as to improve the production of many forest tree species so as to control the menace of their extinction.
