Abstract
Climate change poses significant threats to farming production and food security in Ikere Ekiti, Nigeria. This study investigates the impacts of climate change on agricultural productivity and food security in the area. Data were collected through a survey of 30 farmers and analysis of climate data from 1980 to 2023. The results show that climate change has led to significant declines in crop yields, changes in planting and harvesting seasons, and increased frequency of extreme weather events. The study also reveals that these impacts have resulted in reduced food availability, increased food prices, and malnutrition. The study recommends the adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices, development of early warning systems for extreme weather events, and implementation of social protection programs for vulnerable households.
