Abstract
This research examines the Great Depression's significant impact on the United States andthe subsequent New Deal policies implemented by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The studyanalyzes the economic and social factors that contributed to the Depression, includingoverproduction, unequal wealth distribution, and the collapse of the banking system. It thendelves into the key components of the New Deal, such as relief, recovery, and reformprograms, evaluating their effectiveness in addressing the crisis. In the course of thisresearch, both primary and secondary sources of data collection were used. Thus, the studyfound out among others that governmental policies, particularly regarding bankingregulations, played a pivotal role in the Great Depression. The research concludes byconsidering the long-term legacy of the New Deal on American society, politics, andeconomic policy.
