Assessment of the Role of Local Government on Rural Development in Tofa Local Government Area, Kano State

Abstract
This study was to assess the role performance of local government in rural development in Tofa Local Government Area, Kano State, Nigeria between 2015 and 2023. Objectives of this study intends to: examine the extent Tofa Local Government been able to provide agriculture facilities to the rural people, find out the extent that Tofa Local Government been able to provide infrastructural facilities to the rural people, ascertain the extent that Tofa Local Governments been able to provide education to the rural people and explore the extent that Tofa Local Government provides health facilities to the rural people. This study used quantitative research design, the population of this study consists of 197,734 people of Tofa L.G.A., (National Population Census, 2006), and the Hausa and the Fufulde languages are commonly spoken in the area. Random sampling technique was used in the selection of samples.
