Abstract
ABSTRACT The increasing demand for sustainable and reliable energy solutions has driven the development of solar inverters, which convert solar energy into usable electricity. This study focuses on the design and construction of a 2.5 kVA solar inverter as an efficient and eco-friendly alternative to conventional power sources. The inverter converts direct current (DC) from solar panels into alternating current (AC), ensuring a stable power supply for residential and commercial applications, especially in areas with unreliable grid electricity. The design incorporates highefficiency semiconductor components, including MOSFETs and IGBTs, to enhance power conversion and switching performance. A pure sine wave output is achieved using pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques, ensuring minimal harmonic distortion and improved power quality. A lithium-ion battery bank is integrated to optimize energy storage, extend battery life, and enhance safety. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology is employed to maximize solar energy utilization under varying sunlight conditions. To ensure reliability and ease of use, the inverter includes advanced protection features such as overvoltage and short-circuit protection, thermal management, and an automatic changeover function for seamless switching between solar and grid power. A microcontroller-based system with an LCD display enables realtime monitoring of battery status, load consumption, and fault diagnostics. The modular design allows for easy maintenance and future upgrades. Performance evaluations indicate high energy efficiency, stable voltage output, and reliable operation under different load conditions. The successful implementation of this project highlights the potential of solar inverters in reducing dependence on fossil fuels, lowering electricity costs, and promoting environmental sustainability. Future enhancements may include IoT integration for remote monitoring and AI-based energy management for improved efficiency and predictive maintenance
