Abstract
This study explores the various fungal species obtained from vaginal discharge samples, emphasizing their unique growth traits and reactions to antifungal treatments. The fungi displayed significant differences in colony morphology when cultured on Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) and Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) media, highlighting the intricate nature of fungal flora present in these samples. Antifungal sensitivity tests conducted with Griseofulvin and Itraconazole showed diverse susceptibility patterns, with certain isolates exhibiting resistance, indicated by minimal or absent growth zones. The results highlight the increasing difficulty of managing antifungal resistance in clinical settings. The investigation employed a variety of microbiological techniques, incorporating selective agents such as chloramphenicol, to guarantee precise isolation and identification. Results highlighted the importance of antifungal sensitivity testing for tailored therapeutic decisions. The observed resistance patterns highlight the necessity for continuous monitoring to effectively address emerging resistance trends. The investigation provides essential information to guide clinical practices, fostering individualized treatment strategies. The findings indicate an urgent requirement for antifungal stewardship, improved diagnostic protocols, and investigation into alternative therapies to tackle the rising occurrence of resistant fungal infections. Suggestions involve integrating regular antifungal sensitivity testing, tracking resistance patterns, investigating alternative treatment options, and enhancing awareness among healthcare providers to improve patient outcomes. Keywords: Fungal infections, antifungal resistance, antifungal sensitivity testing, Griseofulvin, Itraconazole
