Prevalence of Malaria Parasite Infection Among Children 1-10 Years in Hadejia Local Government Jigawa State

Abstract
ABSTRACTThis study indicates the prevalence of malaria parasite infection among children aged 1-10 years in hadejia local government. Data was collected cross sectional survey conducted in local healthcare facilities, where blood samples were taken using RDT strip from a representative sample of children in this age group. The result revealed a prevalence rate of 67%, with 35 males and 32 females testing positive for malaria parasite. The finding indicate a higher infection rate among males compared to females. The finding of this study underscore a critical need for enhanced malaria prevention strategies in hadejia, particularly for children 1-10 years. The study clearly showed that malaria is still posing problems in hadejia Local Government Area of jiagawa State. The prevalent rate is still high among the younger age group (1 – 5 years.). The low haemoglobin and packed cell volume observed in the infected children showed that malaria plays an important role in causing anaemia in children.
