Abstract
The study is aimed at assessing the Implications of Pre-Marital Sex on the Success of Marriage among Young Couples in Kaduna Metropolis. Quantitative method of data collection was employed for the study. 400 questionnaires were administered to respondents through the triangulation of Multi-Stage Sampling and purposive sampling selection, where only 375 questionnaires were retrieved. The study finds that premarital sex is widespread in Kaduna Metropolis, with many individuals engaging in it, often with multiple partners. Key factors influencing this behaviour include emotional attachment, peer pressure, curiosity, and media influence. Love, emotional connection, and the desire for sexual compatibility are significant motivations, while societal pressures and cultural acceptance also contribute. Parental influence and religious beliefs further shape attitudes, with negligence cited as a factor. While some believe premarital sex strengthens emotional bonds, others report negative impacts like mistrust and marital instability, suggesting varied consequences based on individual experiences and relationship dynamics. Based on these findings, the study recommended that; Government and stakeholders should implement comprehensive sexual education programs in schools and communities to promote informed decision-making and awareness about the emotional, physical, and social consequences of premarital sex. Also, emphasize the importance of mutual consent in sexual relationships through educational campaigns and community dialogues, ensuring that all individuals understand and respect the boundaries of others. Also, Parents should be encouraged to provide adequate moral guidance and open communication with their children about sex, relationships, and values, reducing the impact of peer pressure and societal influences
