Abstract
Instructional materials play a vital role in enhancing the teaching and learning process by making lessons more engaging, interactive, and comprehensible. This study examines the role of instructional materials in the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in selected schools within Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano State. The research explores the types of instructional materials available, the extent of their utilization by teachers, and the challenges affecting their effective use in Islamic Studies instruction. A survey research design was employed, and data were collected from Islamic Studies teachers through questionnaires and interviews. The findings reveal that while instructional materials such as textbooks, charts, audio-visual aids, and digital resources significantly improve students' understanding and retention of Islamic concepts, their availability and proper utilization remain limited due to inadequate funding, lack of teacher training, and insufficient school resources. The study concludes that effective teaching of Islamic Studies requires well-structured and accessible instructional materials to enhance students' comprehension and engagement. It recommends that government authorities, school administrators, and educators invest in the provision, development, and proper integration of instructional materials to improve the quality of Islamic Studies education in Kumbotso L.G.A.
