Computer Assisted Objective Structured Clinical Examination: Benefits and Challenges Among Basic and Undergraduate Nurses and Midwives in Sokoto State

Abstract
This study is on computer assisted objective structured clinical examination: benefits and challenges among basic and undergraduate nurses and midwives in sokoto state. Computer assisted structured clinical examination refers to a method of evaluating and assessing clinical skills and competences of students, typically in the field of healthcare. The objective of this study is to determine the benefits and challenges of computer assisted objective structured clinical examination among basic and undergraduate nurses. A descriptive survey design was used in the study and a self- administered questionnaires was used to collect data from the respondents , with the help of a trained research assistant. The data collected from the respondents were analyzed using statistical package for social science (SSPS) version 25 which reveals that 60 percent of the respondents are within the age range of 15-24years, 68.8 percent are females and 31.3 percent are single..Findings also reveals that majority of the respondents 49.5 percent agreed that CA-OSCE is a better mode of evaluation than the written OSCE, 32.7 percent strongly agreed that CA-OSCE covers a wide range of skills, 27.9 percent of the respondent agreed that CA-OSCE minimizes the changes of subjectivity, 46.1 percent 0f the respondents agreed that stations are well arranged and sequenced. The study recommends that the institutions should provide resources for candidates to understand the format and expectations of ca-osce, necessary including practice exams, informational materials and preparatory workshops to help candidates develop necessary skills and confidence.
