Challenges of Leaderdhip and Good Governance in Nigeria:a Study of Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State

Abstract
Leadership and governance have been recognized as imperative for the attainment of the political, economic and social objective of any society. The significance of leadership good governance is predicated on the fact that good leadership set the tone and standard of governance.Three research objective, three research question and three hypothesis were raise to guide the study. This study adopt Ex-facto Facto research design.The methodology used is quantitative, involving both the primary and secondary sources of data collection. The study considered two theoretical frame: Trait theory and style and behavior as theoretical framework. Arising from the analysis in chapter four, the following findings were made among others,that (i) the history of Nigeria is a replete with governance and leadership that in most cases lacked vision, mostly engrossed with corruption and political bickering leading to the enthronement of maladministration and mismanagement of public resources and consequently insecurity, economic setback and abject poverty (ii)lack of focus, commitment, continuity and sometimes proper knowledge about economic and development issues that hinders leadership and good governance.In the end, the study concluded that, bad leadership and governance failure is indeed the sociopolitical virus that has eaten deep into the fabric of Nigerian States.
