Capacity Building Practices and Employees Performance (a Survey of Selected Secondary Schools in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State)

Abstract
The study examined the relationship between capacity building practices and ’employees performance. The study had raised eight research objectives and questions that reflect on the dimensions (Coaching, training and Self-learning) and measures of employee production are task accomplishment. This study adopted survey design. The study population is made up of 127 employees of the private secondary schools in Bayelsa State. Taro Yamane was adopted to arrive at a sample size of 96. The main source of data is the primary source using questionnaire as the research instrument. Data collected was analysed descriptively using table, frequency, percentage and mean score. The hypotheses were tested using Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient with the aid of SPSS. However, the findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between all the dimensions of capacity building practices and measures of employees performance. Conclusively, the study has proven that there is an empirical relationship between capacity building practices and employees performance in the private secondary schoolsThe capacity building of an employee through training programs should be introduced to increase the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the employees. Capacity building and managers’ support can help to create a sustainable competitive advantage over other key players. It should be a continuous process as it contributes to reducing the cost in the end.
