Abstract
ABSTRACTThis project takes a closer look at how Nollywood has changed over the years by comparing two films: Igodo from Old Nollywood and Lionheart from New Nollywood. The focus is on the use of mise en scène, which includes everything we see on screen like the setting, costumes, lighting, and how the camera is used. By watching and analyzing both films carefully, the study explores how these visual elements affect storytelling and how they represent Nigerian culture. The research also looks at how each film either reflects or challenges common stereotypes in our cinema. The findings show that while Lionheart uses modern production to appeal to a global audience, Igodo stays true to traditional storytelling and cultural depth. The project suggests that the future of Nollywood should find a way to balance both modern techniques and cultural values to keep our stories rich and meaningful.
