Abstract
ABSTRACT
The project is concerned with the nature of the contribution of education sector on the economic growth of Nigeria using a time series data on education sector contribution and gross domestic product spanning from 1981 to 2021. The model adopted is the regression model and least squares method of estimation. The order of integration used reveals that the two variables are integrated order 1 (I(1)) in their logarithm transformation and integrated order zero at their first difference. the result indicates that education sector exacts significant positive impact on GDP growth. Therefore, we conclude that the sector has contributed significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth. Hence, we recommend government more support to the sector so as to double the education sector contribution to our economic growth and development.
