Abstract
ABSTRACTThis study aimed at investigating the impact of automobile spray painting on the bloodpressure levels of spray painters in Irrua, Esan West Local Government Area. The size of thesample population was 50; 25 paint sprayers and 25 non-paint sprayers. Mean age of thesample population was 39.10±7.15 years (minimum of 22 years and maximum of 49 years),mean age of paint sprayers was 37.88±7.95 years and mean age of non-paint sprayers was40.32±6.18 years. The results showed that the effect of paint spraying on blood pressure. SBPof paint sprayers was 129.08±8.24 mmHg which was significantly higher than the value ofnon- paint sprayers of 120.64±3.88 mmHg. The mean DBP of paint sprayers is 83.20±5.05mmHg which was significantly higher than the value of non- paint sprayers of 78.52±3.80mmHg. Thus, there was a significant effect of paint spraying on blood pressure. However, the results of this study suggest good safety activity significantly reduces the associationbetween work practice and hypertension. This study is important because it depicts poor workpractice and hypertension as real health issues. Large percentages of individuals are eitherpoor in adhering to safe work practice.
