Abstract
A 2.5kVA solar powered inverter was constructed in this project to convert DC from solar panels into AC to power household devices. It can be used with moderate power loads like lighting and refrigerators, providing an output of 220V at 50Hz. When mains supply (PHCN) is available, the system automatically switches to charging mode, with an LCD displaying parameters such as battery voltage and inverter status. The project was completed by selecting, testing, and assembling components. The inverter met its set goals, though limitations were noted, including the inability to drive high-power devices like hotplates and sensitivity to mains voltage fluctuations. Recommendations for improvement include increasing the power rating and implementing a more sophisticated closed-loop monitoring system.
