Abstract
ABSTRACTÂ This study explores the utilization of the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) for accessing library resources among undergraduate students in the Department of Library and Information Science at Bayero University, Kano, using a quantitative research methodology. The primary objective was to assess the level of awareness, frequency of use, and the challenges faced by students in accessing library resources through OPAC. A structured questionnaire was administered to a sample of undergraduate students, and the data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The findings indicated that while the majority of students were aware of the OPAC system, only a limited number frequently used it due to factors such as lack of training, technical difficulties, and inadequate internet access. The study concludes that despite the potential benefits of OPAC in improving access to library resources, there are significant barriers that hinder its optimal usage. The study recommends the provision of more training sessions, technical support, and improved access to digital resources to enhance the utilization of OPAC among students.
