Abstract
This study investigates the use of aqueous extracts from three plants—Hibiscus sabdariffa (Roselle), Lawsonia inermis (Henna), and Bougainvillea spectabilis Willd—on the sperm morphology of dromedary camels (Camelus dromedarius). The research focuses on assessing whether these plant extracts can serve as natural dyes to improve the analysis of camel sperm cells during fertility studies. Accurate evaluation of sperm morphology is crucial for understanding and improving camel reproduction, especially in regions where camels are vital for agriculture and transport. However, current staining methods for camel sperm are often inconsistent and costly, limiting their widespread use. This study aims to extract dyes from the plants using water and evaluate their potential to stain camel sperm for better visibility under the microscope. The findings could provide a simpler, more effective, and affordable method for studying sperm cells, benefiting fertility researchers.
