The Effects of Poor Teacher-Students Relationship on the Academic Performance of Biology Students in Fagge Local Government, Kano State.

ABSTRACTThis research delves in to the effect of Poor Teacher–Student Relationship on Academic performance of Biology students in Fagge Local Government, Kano state. Three research question were raised to guide the study. The design used for the study was descriptive survey research design, with a population of Two thousand eight hundred and thirty (2830) students in some selected schools of Fagge L.G.A. The data used for the study were obtained by the use of structured questionnaire which was validated by three educational experts in the department of science and technology education Bayero university Kano with a reliability index of 0.80, The study adopted simple random sampling techniques using a sample size of 305 students from the 4 selected government secondary schools, mean was used for data analysis. The finding show that school counsellors play a vital role in resolving poor-relationship between the students and the teacher, it was recommended that qualified and sound minded teacher should be employed, so that they will be able to maintain cordial relationship between them and the students, also seminar or workshop should be organized at least once or twice in a year for teachers in order to enlighten them more on how to relate, communication and associate with their students, teachers should try and reinforce their students positively whenever they answer questions correctly or wrongly.
