Perceived Effect of Quackery in Health Information Management on the Quality of Health Information Management Practice in Selected Private Hospitals in Southwest Nigeria.

Abstract
ABSTRACT The proliferation of quackery within the realm of health information management (HIM) presents a significant challenge to the integrity and reliability of health information systems. This study examined the Perceived Effect of Quackery in Health Information Management on the Quality of Health Information Management Practice in Selected Private Hospitals in Southwest Nigeria. Descriptive research design was adopted for this study. The target population of the study are health information management staff of the selected private hospitals in Southwest Nigeria, Total enumeration sampling technique was used to cohort the entire respondents across the selected private hospitals. 110 respondents were selected which is the total number of staff in the selected hospitals. 110 questionnaires were administered and 109 were retrieved back for analysis and presentation indicating 99% response rate. Data collected were analyzed using frequency count and simple percentage distribution, descriptive analysis such as mean, relative mean and standard deviation was done with the aid of statistical package for social sciences version 20.0. Findings revealed that majority of respondents (65.1% strongly agree and 31.2% agree) believe that limited public awareness about the importance of accredited health information management practices contributes to patient ignorance or indifference towards the qualifications of healthcare providers. The findings from the hypothesis testing using regression at 0.05 significant level showed that the Cause of quackery has significant relationship on the effect of quackery in health information management practice.
