Abstract
The study examined electronic banking system and the performance of financial institutions with special reference/selected commercial banks in Ekiti State. Specifically, the study assessed the impact of mobile banking on the performance of financial institutions; effect of internet banking on the performance of financial institutions; and significant relationship between automated teller machines and the performance of financial institutions. Primary data was employed and questionnaire was used to collect data from 100 respondents of some selected commercial banks in Ekiti State. The study employ frequency count, simple percentage, mean and standard deviation Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis to analyse the study. Correlation analysis demonstrated that electronic banking systems have a positive relationship with the performance of commercial banks. Mobile banking has a very strong positive relationship with the performance of banks (r = 0.806, p= 0.000). Moreover, the performance of banks have a moderate positive relationships with ATM banking (r= 0.547, p = 0.000), and the internet banking (r=0.466, p=000). The study concluded that electronic banking predict performance of financial institutions and that mobile banking have a significant impact on the performance of commercial banks.
