Abstract
The choice of flooring, along with its proper installation, maintenance, and repair, directly influences the longevity of the space and guest satisfaction. This study aim at examining best practices for flooring installation, maintenance, and repair in hospitality settings, using the Federal Polytechnic training restaurant. The specific objectives are to identify the most suitable types of flooring for hospitality training restaurants, evaluate installation methods that enhances the durability and safety of flooring in high-traffic areas and explore the maintenance and repair strategies that ensures long-term functionality and aesthetics. The data collection process combined both primary and secondary data sources: Questionnaires/Surveys were used. A purposive sampling technique will be used to select participants from the population who have direct experience with the installation, maintenance, and repair of flooring in the facility. The findings from the respondents indicate that ceramic tiles are the most commonly used flooring type (n=15) in the training restaurant, particularly favored for their durability and ease of cleaning. However, ceramic tiles are also prone to cracking in high-traffic areas, which may account for their mixed reception in terms of durability (as discussed in later sections). The study concludes that Proper flooring selection, installation practices, and maintenance routines are essential in high-traffic environments like the Hospitality Training Restaurant at Federal Polytechnic, Ede. It was recommended that in areas prone to moisture or high foot traffic, such as kitchens and restrooms, rubber and vinyl should be prioritized for their slip-resistant and ergonomic properties
