Improving Reading Difficulties in Children Using Phonic and Syllabic Method

Abstract
The study explains the elements of reading fluency and ways to access and teach them. The study delved into the variables of improving reading difficulty in children which are phonic and syllabic variables. The study adopted the survey method with the aid of purposive sampling to gather the data. 19 item questionnaires were administered to 200 respondents purposively selected from the entire population of nursery and primary school teachers in Oredo Local Government Area. Simple percentages were used in presentation of data and the research questions. The study portrayed since acquisition of reading skills is very important in the life of every child and in one's adult life it is pertinent that reading difficulties need to be reduced in Nigerian schools and that phonics and syllabic methods of teaching and reading improves reading difficulties in Nigerian schools. Based on the findings of the study, it is recommended that Jor effective teaching and improvement in the reading ability of, pupils teachers could.
