The Use of Authentic Based Multimedia to Improve Information Retrival Skills and Enhance Librarians Job Performance in Ekiti State University

The study investigated the use of authentic-based multimedia to improve information retrival skills and enhance librarians job performance in Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised of all the librarians in Ekiti State University. The sample for the study was fifteen (15) librarians based on total enumeration. The instrument for the study was questionnaire used to gather data from the respondents. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics. The research questions were answered using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts, simple percentage, mean and standard deviation. The hypothesis formulated were analysed using Chi-Square Tests. The findings of the study revealed that authentic based multimedia significantly improve Librarians ability to locate relevant information. It was also revealed that lack of technical skill know-how and adequate training in digital literacy and multimedia tools affects Librarians usage of authentic based multimedia. In conclusion, all librarians and library users should have access to technology and multimedia resources, including resources for those with disabilities and based on the findings of the study it was recommended that adequate training should be given to library staff inorder to familiarize them with how authentic based multimedia devices work.
