Abstract
This project focuses on the development of a mobile application designed for real-time monitoring of light conditions in greenhouses to optimize the growth of tomatoes. It aims to address the challenge of inconsistent light exposure faced by local farmers at Dan-Goro Green Farm in Kumbotso L.G.A by providing an affordable and user-friendly solution. The application utilizes the smartphone's built-in light sensor to gather data, offering real-time insights and notifications to farmers to ensure optimal lighting conditions. By leveraging existing smartphone technology, this project eliminates the need for expensive external sensors, making precision agriculture accessible to small-scale farmers. Field testing at Dan-Goro Green Farm demonstrated significant improvements in monitoring capabilities and farmer awareness of light conditions, presenting a promising approach for enhancing agricultural productivity in rural areas of Kano State.
