Abstract
This project research is designed to identify the probiotics found in yoghurt and their health benefits to human when administered in adequate amount.the sample was gotten from a market store and the research was done at Microbiology Laboratory of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, uli, Anambra state. These beneficial bacteria are primarily know for their positive effects on gut health, but their influence extends to various other aspects of human physiology, immune modulation, enhancement of nutrient absorption, and even mental health improvements. The isolation and identification process typically involves culturing the bacteria on selective media, followed by morphological and biochemical characterization. Advanced molecular techniques, such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and DNA sequencing, further facilitate the precise identification of These microorganisms. These methods are indispensable for distinguishing between closely related bacterial strains and for confirming their probiotics properties. Moreover, understanding the probiotics content of yoghurt can inform public health strategies aimed at improving dietary recommendations and promoting the consumption of probiotics-rich foods. In a broader sense, this research aligns with global efforts to combat the rising incidence of lifestyle-related diseases, such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disorders, through diet-based interventions. it not only enhance our understanding of the beneficial microorganisms in a widely consumed food product but also opens avenues for optimizing their use in promoting health and preventing disease. As the demand for functional foods continue to rise, this study stands to make a significant contributions to both scientific knowledge and public health.
