Abstract
A Tetrakis diphenylamine Cu (II) complex was synthesized and characterized using infrared (IR) spectroscopy, thermal analysis, conductivity measurements, and magnetic susceptibility testing. IR spectral analysis revealed that the secondary N-H vibrations of the ligand, initially observed at 3404 and 3382 cm, shifted to lower frequencies (3442 and 3352 cm) upon complex formation, indicating coordination Characteristic bands corresponding to Cu-Cl and Cu-N vibrations were observed in the ranges of 200–300 cm and 400–600 cm, respectively. Thermal analysis showed that the complex decomposed at 250°C. Conductivity measurements yielded a value of 14.79 µS/cm, suggesting a non-electrolytic nature. The magnetic susceptibility of the complex was determined to be 1.077 × 10⁻⁶ emu, indicating a paramagnetic behavior consistent with the presence of Cu (II). These results confirm the successful synthesis and coordination of the diphenylamine ligand with copper chloride, contributing to the understanding of transition metal-ligand interactions.
