Abstract
AbstractThis study investigated school environment, student’s familybackground and students’ self-efficacy belief with the academicperformance of senior secondary schools students in Biology inBekwarra Local Government Area. Three research questions wereposed and three null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study.Correlational survey research design was used for this study. Onehundred and twenty (120) senior secondary two (SSII) Biology studentswere randomly drawn for the study. Two instruments were used fordata collection titled; questionnaire for school environment, student’sfamily background and students’ self-efficacy belief (QSESFBSSEB)and Biology Achievement Test (BAT) were developed by theresearcher used for data collection Research questions were analyzedusing mean and standard deviation whiles the research hypotheses weretested using Pearson product moment correlation coefficient at 0.05level of significance. Results obtained from the study showed thatschool environment does not significant influence academicperformance, family background does not significantly influenceacademic performance of students, and self-efficacy belief does notsignificantly influence academic performance of students. There is needinvest in teacher training programs to improve instructional techniquesand classroom management skills are hereby recommended among
