Effect of Electronic Banking on Banking Operational Efficiency in Nigeria

Abstract
The paper examined the effect of electronic payment system on customer satisfaction: a study of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. The purpose was to; evaluate the influence of online credit card payment system on customer satisfaction and assess the influence of electronic e-cash system on customer satisfaction. The study employed survey research design and sampled forty-one respondents. Hypotheses was tested using n Product Moment correlation analysis. The findingsrevealed that there is a significant effect of online credit card payment system on customer satisfaction in Fidelity Bank Plc. It was equally showed that there is a significant effect of electronic e-cash system on customer satisfaction in Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. Based on the result of findings from the study; electronic banking has a significant positive effect on customer satisfaction. Thus, banks are now willing and able to give better and swift services to their customers. This has further reduced the level of queues in the banking hall and to some extent complaints of customers. Before the introduction of e-banking, customer's experience in the banking hall has been poor due to the laxity and sentiments expressed by some banking officials in terms of the time used to service customers. It is highly germane for bank managers to boost their investments in the various electronic banking channels to facilitate speed, accurateservices, or otherwise lose out to their stern competitors. Also, banks should organize seminars/workshops to customers to bring the awareness of electronic banking to people in the rural area and illiterate’s customers who find it difficult to make use of their ATMs for transaction. It is advised that banks should improve continuously in the advance of Automated Teller Machine for speedy transaction when using by customers.
