Abstract
Gully erosion is a significant concern for road infrastructure, particularly in areas with heavy rainfall and poor drainage. this study investigates the impact of gully erosion on third Bawark Road, a critical transportation artery in Auchi, do State. Using a combination of field observations and soil sampling, we assessed the extent of gully erosion along the road and its effects on road conditions. Our results show that gully erosion has resulted in significant road damage, including rutting, potholes, and pavement collapse. The study found a strong correlation between soil erosion rates and road damage, highlighting the need for effective erosion control measures. Recommendations include implementing soil stabilization techniques, improving drainage systems, and regular maintenance to prevent further erosion and road degradation. This study contributes to the understanding of gully erosion’s impact on road infrastructure and informs strategies for sustainable road management in vulnerable regions.
