Abstract
The development of a standard die set and chipping mechanism for fish feed pellet machines is a critical component in enhancing the efficiency and productivity of aquaculture operations. The current lack of standardization in die set design and chipping mechanism results in inconsistent pellet quality, reduced machine efficiency and increase maintenance cost. This project aimed to address these challenges by designing and developing a standard die set and chipping mechanism. A comprehensive approach was employed, incorporating material selection, blade angle optimization and testing. The project successfully developed a standard die set that demonstrated improved performance and consistency in pellet production. However, the development of the chipping mechanism faced significant technical challenges, resulting in a failed prototype. Despitethis setback, valuable lessons were learnt regarding the complexity of fish feed pelletizing and the importance of thorough testing and validation. The findings of this project underscore the need for further research and development in this area to improve the efficiency and productivity of fish feed pellet production. The successful development of the die set provides a foundation for future improvements, and the outcomes of this project will inform future research and development initiatives, ultimately contributing to the growth and sustainability of the aquaculture industry
